I just hope it doesn't stop here. There was so much hype about Olivia in the previous arf, as the "second strongest" (now third ) that a random sumo guy appearing from nowhere beating him would be quite underwhelming.

You got to have in mind that this random sumo guy supposedly has done a feat that yujiro couldnt. Of course japanese and their double or triple meaning phrases dont help , but if you remember when obama meets yujiro and asks him if he can turn charcoal into diamond , he says something along the lines of "thats not something a human can do". Now , does that mean he calls himself a creature? So since he isnt human, he can do it ? We do know that at the end of father vs son, yujiro told everyone baki was the strongest human, because he himself was the strongest creature.
Sumo guy can also turn a huge rock of charchoal into diamond so maybe he can put a finger on yujiro ? Not beat thats too much.
Also we Sukune has more explosive power than Baki , and Baki beat Oliver in raw strenght so its not a suprise he is getting man handled

1. nomi no sukune is the founder of sumo, so he's not a 'random' sumo guy, he should be fairly well known in japan, it's just us foreigners who don't really know him

2. sukune didn't beat Olivia in pure strength yet, Olivia tried to sumo wrestle him but was beaten this chapter because he had no sumo technique, so sukune says 'it isn't sumo'

3. baki already beat Olivia in strength, then Pickle showed up with more hype, so Olivia isn't really 2nd strongest.

I think what disturb me in this series is that we don't know where does the sumo guy come from (if I missed something please tell me, I didn't reread everything for this answer). Unlike musashi in the previous part (which I haven't finished yet, if he is introduced as the end my bad). So I'm not saying that sumo is not strong or anything (big fan of hinomaru here), it's just that we did not have the same build up as musashi and pickle that clearly showed us that they are strong. It's only "yay Sumo is strong even Doppo said it, and look he beat Olivia".

And yeah Olivia 3rd strongest "human being" (without supernatural involved )

Most readers think he's also revived from the past like Musashi.

based on translated chapters, no, we don't know how sukune 2 was born

chapter 2 was confusing, it states 'the birth of the second occurred x years later - wait what?"
since baki dou chapter 9: https://mangadex.org/chapter/202785/5 is also described as musashi's 'birth' , sukune 2 may also be 'born' the same way

so I suggest waiting for the final chapters of the musashi arc to be translated before jumping to conclusions since we are reading out of order.

He is a distant descendant; he was born 2,000 years after the original Sukune. He is not a clone. This is mentioned at the end of the previous Baki Dou. We'll get there. Don't worry.

yeah, there is information about sukune after musashi ark in bakidou.
Its not a spoiler since you are reading this but here is whats known about sukune:
1- he is a descendent , not a revived corpse;
2- he could make a huge piece of coal turn into diamond - when obama asked yujiro to do that to a small piece of coal , he said "thats not a thing humans can do" , however that is one of those japanese phrases with more than 1 meaning so thats up in the air.
3- we see 3 or 4 panels of sukune fighting guys on different places , kind of mimicking the journey baki had to get how he is today.

Thats it , new stuff is what we are seeing now in baki dou 2018

Ok, so it still kills a bit the hype for me. We saw Baki fight dinosaur eater, redirected legend, and yujiro is the "strongest human", so that guy being "just" a descendant is kind of underwhelming in term of setting. I still like to read it though

There are no pages or panels of Sukune fighting anyone in the previous series.
Those are drawings of a hypothetical rikishi who Itagaki uses to make a point. The street fight shown is explicitly referred to as a hypothetical situation.

ah , just went back to that chapter and you are right .
When i first "read" there were no translations and the scans were in korean, so no one knew what it was saying. Me and other guys used to discuss the chapters based only on the images and that was one conclusion we came too haha , guess it got stuck in my head.
Although , even if it did not show , its kind of obvious that he had a similar journey to baki in the same way most fighters have. They go around training their body and then try it out against other guys haha
