I think you're confusing karmic retribution with revenge. Revenge is active. It's Wakou going out of his way to hurt Menka. That's not what I'm asking for. Karmic retribution is just the natural consequence of someone's actions catching up to them. It doesn't require Wakou to do anything except live his life. That's not revenge. It's just the narrative not rewarding a terrible person for being terrible. The point of the story has from the start been about Wakou moving on successfully from a toxic and manipulative marriage, and finding a surge in popularity after divorce. I don't think the story has ever been about revenge, his wife only existed as source of mental trauma. Esp given the MC's excessive "kindness"
Plus, as some believe, the best revenge is managing to lead a successful life and finding happiness. And having 3 wives is as successful as you can get, as shown by menka's wtf face. Honestly her contorted face is more satisfying than I expected. Hope we get more of that
I agree the story is about Wakou moving on and finding happiness. That's exactly why Menka shouldn't get to come back, get his help, and walk away with everything she wants, again. If she does, his growth feels hollow. She shouldn't walk away from this happy or rewarded. She already got away with destroying him once. Doing it again would just be insulting. And you said yourself that Menka's shocked face was satisfying. That's literally karmic retribution. Her ego getting bruised by seeing him happy is the consequence I'm talking about. I'm not asking for Wakou to be vengeful. I'm just asking for Menka to face the natural results of her actions.
