Kishiro-sensei made a sci-fi story that has pretty advanced technology, even at this point in the past they have some pretty crazy things... but at the same time, he convincingly made that because of the powerful transhumanistic nature of his story, his characters latch very strongly to many ideologies, philosophies and religions.

There is always some sort of atavistic element baked in the story to remind the reader that no matter how much we advance technologically, a human is a human.

Holy shit that was dark. Went from 0 to 100 in a few pages. Of course, this story can't have any moment of "peace", this is GUNNM, after all.
Kishiro sensei never disappoints.
