THIS IS WHAT I LIKE.

GOD... I love how Kishiro-sensei draws martial arts, he achieved something that very few artists can or even try... he enhanced reality.

When you see martial arts in most mangas I can't recognize them as true ways of fighting, mostly it is just a character standing there preparing their "super duper mega destructor punch"... that is just a normal haymaker, or it is just them throwing differently colored energy beams.

But with Kishiro... he must have studied the postures and techniques, then he thought "what if these technique are being done by people with cybernetic bodies that are much stronger than ours?", and we have this.

Sure, there are still moments when the characters are just throwing their "destructor punches" at each other, but those ways of fighting are not rewarded in this story, there is an adherence to the "forms" at the same time "creative" way of moving that enhances the fights in a "natural" way.

Because it makes sense... people here can electromagnetically accelerate their bodies, they can vibrate their bionic muscle, they create plasma and even anti-matter and many other incredible things... but they all implement that in refined ways, because when anyone can use such attacks... only those that have absolute control of those powers can achieve new levels of strength.

Funnily enough... when Alita got her upgraded body with that Jovian reactor was when I thought she was at her least interesting point as a fighter, I mean... she did manipulate her body in interesting ways, but she wasn't using her more refined style of fighting... but truth be told, her savagery is one of the core strengths, so it kinda tracks.

Next chapter is supposedly the last one, right?
What?

Do you mean Kishiro-sensei will go on another hiatus? Was there any news about it?

Edit: Oh... it actually has ended, but it seems he will continue the story with a "new" series under a different name, why is that... well I presume there was some editorial situation or even personal and he had to rethink things, but worry not... the story will continue, it is just Mars Chronicles that will end.

The good news is that it will start already this year... curious if he will just start it right as this one ends or will he start at another point.
