It's actually an interesting thing that at first people thought that Komodo dragons possessed no actually venom and in fact had mouths that were so vile and disgusting that it made a poison through that. However it was actually discovered that Komodo dragons in fact have great oral hygiene and that confusion was caused due to their prey running through stagnant gross water to escape, causing infection. Komodo dragons due in fact produce some venom protiens that work in an interesting way, the compounds contain an anticoagulant that prevents blood clotting as well as lowering blood pressure, muscle paralysis, and inducing hypothermia. In summary the toxic compounds cause prey to go into shock and lose consciousness, allowing the dragon to finish it off.
@NoSana @Ellowryn they indeed have two toxin glands in their lower jaw, an MRI was performed on the skull of one to find them.
Why the text wall? Cause Komodo dragons are my favorite reptile and I love sharing knowledge.
