The clues were definitely all there, I didn't completely connect the dots myself though because I'm used to overthinking this stuff because some authors just dick around too much with twists. Always end up doubting and second guessing my intuition if other possibilities remain.

Like Glomoro said, authors can dick around with these sort of twists and end up with something so out of reach that it makes guess-work pointless, and this story didn't really made me feel like it's important to guess at all. I mean, who the fuck is this Riz anyway? Just some random student, he barely appeared at all.
