Someone who is gentle with the weak
...You mean, the guy who wanted to kill you, a women who can't defend herself, and take your head on the entrance of your castle for a decoration ? Lol.

This manhwa probably would've been fine if there wasn't the whole invasion subplot at the beginning and just kept Chloe as a slave with reincarnated memories while having rumors of ML being a cruel battle piece. It feels almost like the invasion never even happened with how much it's being ignored and how Chloe is dropping her guard so much. But no, we have to have her reincarnated from slave to princess and the invasion was a blessing in disguise so she's out of her horrible marriage and royal life and back to being a happy slave. Her behavior towards the higher ups seems somewhat off too, like aren't slaves not supposed to lift their heads to nobles? (I'm not sure on that though.)

Author keeps throwing shojo tropes to try to convince the reader that he isn't really a bad guy with the scene of kindness to animals and stuff. But he's the type of guy that would desecrate a woman's clothes and kill her and have that body hung at the castle gates and stuff, but they're not good sisters to FL so it's ok anyway right? (sarcasm) The whole bad-guy-is-actually-a-good-guy isn't being done so well here.

I'm still really invested in reading because it's interesting and I support FL with Trigger but Trigger isn't endgame obviously. I like pretty much all the other characters apart from ML. In the end, it's a manhwa to read for the whole fantasy aspect, but the tropes and cliches makes it really subpar.

gentle with the weak. okay sure... in what world though? Can't defend you this time Chloe.
I wish they just didn't go with contradicting his already established character. Would've been better to have him be ruthless still but only kind to her. That's fiiiine. Don't gotta be an angel to be an ML.

I agree with you people down below. At this point I'm trying to forget those first chapters existed. The MMC is getting further and further away from what he was initally written. I keep getting blindsided and groaning every time he becomes a trope shoujo mmc.

And that Isekai plot was really unneccessary. How the hell could she forget seeing him kill her relatives in front of her. If she was vengeful and was relieved of their deaths, it would be understandable. But the FML is your typical shoujo fmc, that is caring, clumsy and has the skill to treat/heal others. She should at least see that their deaths were unforgivable.. uggghh..

Will be dropping this manga after I finish the 1st season I guess.. I'm still quite curious how this will turn out and shamelessly enjoying the bishounen 😅.

Thanks for the update.

I mean...he's just a dude that has past traumatic issues with his daddy and his noble lineage. So with all that pent up anger and unhappiness he just lashes it out on everything that annoys him. But at the same time...it's not like he's those psychopathic sadist that kills people endlessly soooo eh, I mean he isn't a good or a bad dude. He's hot though that's for sure.

His treatment toward Beatrice isn't exactly the best either...she's certainly being treated at least better than her husband and family members so maybe that's why she thinks the Archduke is nice? He did kill and ruin the country that made her life miserable...in her eyes he's definitely better than all the nobles she's met.

Imma be honest here, the archduke in the first chapters wasnt different to the archduke now. "He is harsh on the powerful and kind to the weak" He invaded the fl homecountry because it was misrun and punished those in Power aka the royalty and nobles. he couldnt have known chloes backstory, for him she was just another princess misrunning the country, needing to be punished.

The only instance where the author went overbored was when he made the archduke threaten chloe, saying hed kill her if howl dies.
Tho it would be somewhat understandable to not trust some random slave feeding your beloved horse some plants youve never seen before, he himself ordered said horse to be executed.
not very kind to the weak in that instance...

So far the only bad part about the Duke is that his men are very rapey and that he threatened her life over a horse, oh an I guess enslaving a bunch of people as well but honestly slavery here doesn't seem as bad as in real life or the MC is very lucky to not be raped and branded like cattle.

So different to how he was? It was war, he was the commander. He killed and sentenced a lot of people to die. Maybe it’s different to the standard flower brain prince that we see in shoujo but he’s not different to now and he’s pretty fucking normal for the society all these stories portray.
