This manhwa probably would've been fine if there wasn't the whole invasion subplot at the beginning and just kept Chloe as a slave with reincarnated memories while having rumors of ML being a cruel battle piece. It feels almost like the invasion never even happened with how much it's being ignored and how Chloe is dropping her guard so much. But no, we have to have her reincarnated from slave to princess and the invasion was a blessing in disguise so she's out of her horrible marriage and royal life and back to being a happy slave. Her behavior towards the higher ups seems somewhat off too, like aren't slaves not supposed to lift their heads to nobles? (I'm not sure on that though.)
Author keeps throwing shojo tropes to try to convince the reader that he isn't really a bad guy with the scene of kindness to animals and stuff. But he's the type of guy that would desecrate a woman's clothes and kill her and have that body hung at the castle gates and stuff, but they're not good sisters to FL so it's ok anyway right? (sarcasm) The whole bad-guy-is-actually-a-good-guy isn't being done so well here.
I'm still really invested in reading because it's interesting and I support FL with Trigger but Trigger isn't endgame obviously. I like pretty much all the other characters apart from ML. In the end, it's a manhwa to read for the whole fantasy aspect, but the tropes and cliches makes it really subpar.
