It's always the question with long lived vs short lived races. Sometimes it's just a matter of them appreciating the time they do have together, sometimes there is a means in the world for the member of the short lived race to extend their lives significantly (because magic.) The two big differences between this and Frieren is that Frieren realized feelings much too late and Rossweise will at least have her kids even after her partner dies since their children should have a fairly equivalent expected life span (assuming being half human doesn't shorten it any, which that much tends to depend on the setting of the world.)
