I mean, for as silly as this premise is, there is some precedence for this in video games. Back when I played Mabinogi years ago, Archery was the most powerful end game talent tree, by far. It was also one of the most grueling talents to level up and absolutely awful at.. well basically any point prior to end game. Seriously, it was the only combat style in the game that could flat out miss attacks for 0 damage with no recovery on the player's end. Pair that with lower damage than most other weapon types, exactly enough stun that a missed shot means enemies will rush you down, and Elves (whose whole thing was archery) having zilch durability, meant that I've literally enacted this very chapter back when I played. Complete with dropping my bow (either from lack of arrows or just sheer annoyance) and punching enemies to death.
To be fair, it wasn't all bad. I never played the game enough to properly get to the Endgame content, but archery did eventually at the very least balance out with the other Talents if not surpass them in some ways. Damage caught up, accuracy and player skill (read exploits) improved such that things like "attack speed" stopped being relevant, and the general utility of bows started shining through. I still fondly recall the time when finally in our annual PvP battle with my friend (who was a lot more invested in the game than I was) I was able to hard stunlock/instant kill them with basically no counter. Yeah, finally made up for the dozen or so times they did that to me prior.
