Imma keep it a buck this the first time I actually felt sorry for the father. This is the first time we see him stand up for his family just to met with violence. It hurts even more knowing that he truly believes in her innocence when we know that she's guilty. He has seen her craziness but still doesn't believe she's capable of something like this. And I honestly don't blame him, seeing how over protective she is with Seiichi he probably never imagined she could actually harm a child. A child that Seiichi once cared about.
