Nice, we are going to get to the deep end of Ryuuji's soap opera. Yatora you give a shit about him because despite everything you A) saw him as a friend, B) is part of the reason you got into art and C) You are a nice dude who cant sit around knowing someone is going through shit. This entire experience is going to allow both Yatora and Ryuuji to grow as characters, I can feel it!


@BeeKaine Didnt Yuka/Ryuuji himself said they saw themselves as a man in that chapter where he got the bad date going on? I don't think is far fetched to headcanon yuka as trans because the story gives ample room for it but im also a little suspicious about it. He wouldnt specifically say smth like "whats wrong with a man wearing cute shit?!" If he were actually trans, would he? I think is more likely he is a crossdresser but clearly his issues related to it are coming from somewhere (his family, apparently).

"His parents don't like his hobby" There's "don't like his hobby" and then there's physically abusing them and telling him to "go back to normal." You can coast on plausible deniability all you want but to deny the obvious parallels...

What are you trying to say here? That only trans people experience the "go back to normal" part? To me he seems like he wants to express himself outside of masculinity while still keeping in tact with his manhood. And his parents might not be so accepting of that.

"Unless he says in some way he wants to be a girl." That's not how being trans works, and the fact that he dresses like a woman and gave themselves a distinctly more feminine name than "Ryuji" easily leads creence to this.

Wanting to be a girl? Not how trans works? What? Also you can like feminine things without wanting to be another gender. That exist you know.

"it can be his inner monologue." No one in a well-written story like this would say "I'm suffering because I'm transgender" in their heads for no reasons. That is the purpose of all the implications, nevermind that it is a plot point that Yutora does not exactly know what's going on.

Isn't that how you create a trans character? Their inner conflict and gender dysphoria. You simply can't just look at a crossdresser and say "oh they're trans!"

If yutora has no qualms with his body then he isn't trans. That's not saying he won't in future chapters who knows.

About a non trans name thing I actually do know someone. My mom was given a common christian name and always hated it. She changed it as soon as she could and gets annoyed when her some of her siblings still use her old name 40ish years later.

@Succubewbs MC calls one of the people who are responsable for him getting into art because he hasn't heard of them in a while and finds out lots of red fags so decides to get involved which means getting out of his comfort zone. His friend is a fucking mess.

@smolbaka I forgot but nowdays people really be trying to appropiate the term "trans" to mean "non-binary". This is probably why the other user is confused about what Ryuuji is (or isn't).

hi lesbian here i'm feeling so much omg i've kinda had mlm vibes from yatora (regarding his interactions w/ ryuji and takahashi mostly) as i was reading this series and would be so happy if i was right ;v; obviously i know this is about more than romance and what matters is yatora is able to bring comfort to ryuji however he can and maybe help ryuji have a breakthrough of some sort but yknow...for the future i am Looking out! 100% support if the author decides to go the trans girl route with ryuji though i think both ryuji being a gay man AND possibly being a trans girl would be incredibly important either way. personally i am more seeing a self-hating gay man who wants to be wanted by other men the way he is but also enjoys dressing his own way and finds comfort in that but i would totally open if it went another way <3

@faeriedew funny, I actually see him more likely to develop a crush for Mori-senpai than anything else. Specially since she meant so much to him.

Not saying Ryuuji and Sekai-kun don't have any meaning of their own, but is more like Yatora has completely different bonds with all of those characters that played a huge part on his life and his path to becoming an aspiring art student. None of it reads as romantic as much as it reads as teasing/fanshipper stock (which is fine). However I do like how:

-Mori-senpai was closer to an idol figure for him
-Ryuuji is a classmate he clashes with because he cant understand him, yet is not like they cant interact with one another. They were both aiming for the same goal. I guess they are closer to "brothers in arms" in terms of dynamic? But not quite
-Sekai-kun is his very first rival. Him and Yatora are also completely different, but they both hate and respect each other. Is because of one another that they can strive to be better at art.

Is hard to explain, but looking at their dynamics I can see why Ryuuji is the person Yatora opens up to. They are closer to being "on equal grounds". And its always been like that?? Yatora doesnt get him, but he also doesnt put him on a pedestal or anything like that, he just sees Ryuuji, ironically. But he doesnt Fully see him, which is what the later desperately wanted.

Being loved is easy. Being fully understood and supported?? Now thats hard.
