Yep besties for life. Better that than a half baked confession.
They cancel the lesbians.... :meguuusad:
Also, I'm pretty sure if we had had the gay version, they would have kissed in the last panel, making it echo with the first time they met when Moka was kissing the asshole. But yeah, no gay here.

OH THANK GOD I WAS WRONG. I was thinking there was going to be a tragic twist that would make one (or both) of the characters look back at their lives together fondly but have major bittersweet vibes.
That ending def was rushed and needed a chapter or two more but that's manga for ya.

Yeah, this story deserves more but not surprising that we got what we got. Damn shame.

Yeah it didn't feel like we were shown three years of their lives, but I also think that the author got to tell all most if not all of the key points that they wanted to tell, so what we ended up missing is slice of life filler for the lack of a better word. And I am calling it a filler, but it was vital for this manga

man i really liked the series at the start and i still do broadly like it now but it kinda disappointed me how the extreme class disparity in the end was like. kinda smoothed over? like not entirely, they end up having different lives and struggles, but i feel like after a certain point any bitterness or loss was washed away. this hit me the worst in that chapter with the bookseller and the convo between the brother and the dad. The fact it ended with the kids finding a way to let the old man sell books occasionally as the dad talked about the town being ~reborn~ ultimately elides genuine concerns people might have of a giant hotel's construction taking over the town and possibly driving out local businesses. everyone in that chapter walked away satisfied with their lot in life, which feels to clean and too gentle for a manga where the main conflict is class difference. im not asking for like communist moka overthrowing the bourgeois of course, just for the story to have a bit more bite

I'm sure the intent was to make it yuri but getting cut short obviously changed the plans. I think GL tag should be removed. This is a quite regular bestie friendship and the tag would disappoint anyone who would start reading with that expectation.

I have a really close relationship with my best friend (she’s ace) and this last chapter reminds me of her. It’s incredible, romantic or not, how closely someone can touch your soul.

Wish it had gotten to yuri, but it still maintained the strong emotional core throughout (even though the subplot about basically class warfare was never really resolved and I wish it had). Solid 9/10 manga. Really, really enjoyed it.

Really fond of this manga, sad to see it go. The light social commentary is refreshing, I like how it portray the bleakness of poverty and gentrification with realism and so much kindness to both end of wealth spectrum. And ofc I really adore the warmth of Moka and Kazuki relationship.

Im looking forward to whatever the mangaka does next. I hope they keep doing bits of social commentary in their next.

Wouldve been funnier if they never met again and the morale of the story was "huh in retrospect that was pretty gay"
