This can definitely BE more interesting than uncomfortable depending on how they lean into this. From what I’m seeing so far is she’s just being overly curious because not only is she just at that age, but the constant berating of sexuality and relationships is probably drawing her more to it, even appearing in the form of unwanted intrusive thoughts about family and strangers. The religious aspect is very interesting to me with how she is projecting being against it due to her curiosity towards it. I think it’s a very real and common scenario for people who try to grow while in closed minded spaces.I feel a little bit uncomfortable with this chapter. Not sure about this story.
It also does well to show how this society’s view on being pure and chaste seems to affect her (and as it affects many in real life). Having any sort of sexual desires when you feel as if it is wrong tends to cause shame or anxiety, even going as far as apologizing to a saint for feeling like she has wronged someone for something that is normal at this age.I feel a little bit uncomfortable with this chapter.
