I feel a little bit uncomfortable with this chapter. Not sure about this story.
This can definitely BE more interesting than uncomfortable depending on how they lean into this. From what I’m seeing so far is she’s just being overly curious because not only is she just at that age, but the constant berating of sexuality and relationships is probably drawing her more to it, even appearing in the form of unwanted intrusive thoughts about family and strangers. The religious aspect is very interesting to me with how she is projecting being against it due to her curiosity towards it. I think it’s a very real and common scenario for people who try to grow while in closed minded spaces.

It seems as if she is adopted? Dirty blonde hair and rich parents who look nothing like her seems to sell the bit unless it’s a bit more complex than that.

It also does well to show how this society’s view on being pure and chaste seems to affect her (and as it affects many in real life). Having any sort of sexual desires when you feel as if it is wrong tends to cause shame or anxiety, even going as far as apologizing to a saint for feeling like she has wronged someone for something that is normal at this age.

It's really interesting so far. The difference between a sheltered, rich and religious girl and a girl who's poor and has completely different values is fun to explore. The differences in living conditions is poignant and uncomfortable to confront.

The tone gives me a sad ending vibe though.

I don't like this foreboding feeling I have reading this manga, because if something dramatic is going to happen, it isn't going to be cute with the general mood of despair and desolation in the town

I love how this is telling a story with some real character moments and hard realities rather than some trope-ridden genre slop. This might be one of the best things I'm reading right now.
