interestingly enough, kyoto can technically still be treated as the capital of japan, as there exists no legal document stating that tokyo is the capital city of current japan. political power was centralized from kyoto to tokyo, but the last de jure "capital" of japan is still (technically*) kyoto. tokyo remains the de facto capital of japan, as essentially everyone just agrees on it and it's japan's largest city. tokyo is designated to be part of japan's "capital area," but tokyo itself is not named in the legal documents as the capital of japan.

*i couldn't find any legal stuff on kyoto ever being the capital either so it may be that kyoto was also never the capital de jure or i just haven't looked hard enough yet

About the "boku" thing
I think it's not necessarily about the "immaturity" (I don't remember how it's used in previous chapters)

I'm a gaijin, so I use watashi for everything, but from what I understand, people in Kanto and Kansai perceive "boku" differently.
While both mostly used by younger men, in Kanto it's more perceived as "polite talking in casual setting", so you can still use it when talking to someone older as long as it's not in formal setting.
But in Kansai, it is more perceived as "talking to your peer or below" kind of thing.
So I think it's more that Ayano felt "insulted", kinda like "ya cheeky bastard, ya think you're in my level?" kind of thing

I'm sorry to say it, but the explanation in the credits is honestly very wrong. I dont have a good source for it, but many men (and some women) deliberately choose to use boku, often when they grow up and start college (some cases that I know). To explain it somewhat vaguely, it gives off a more "sophisticated" or "bookish" vibe when compared to something like "ore" which is more macho/familiar. This is a common interpretation across Japan, so not necessarily a Kansai thing.

So Ayano is annoyed that Sorata is trying to copy him, especially since, growing up, he was clearly more of an "ore" (or similar) guy. It may come across as him artificially changing himself to be more "sophisticated" or reserved when that's not his personality. Ayano seems to think that he's trying to copy him, which seems to annoy him a lot. Or maybe he doesnt like that he's trying to change himself for Miyuki, when she may like him as he is? Idk.

On another note, I think that the bubble with the text "things were hectic since the situation with the manservants" on page 30 may be wrong. Unless I'm missing some context from some earlier chapter, what's said is basically "things were busy here due to family business matters." 家業の関係でウチがバタバタしとったから in the raws.

A minor thing, but I would prefer it if yall kept most of the honorifics, even if it's overdone in other series. In this case, I initially thought that Miyuki called her brother some more formal version of "Big brother," so keeping it as "oniichan" I would immediately realize that they were surprised at her using a more "childish" form, since she usually gives off a sophisticated vibe.

Overall, this is a difficult manga to translate lol and I think yall are doing a good job. Thanks for doing it

Edit: About what pronoun Sorata's been using in previous chapters, it's always been boku as far as I can tell. It's in the title, after all. So it's not a temporary thing with Ayano. What's even more interesting is that I think that the author deliberately avoided showing what pronoun he used as a kid in the flashback in chapters 9-10. I checked real quick and I think he's not shown to use any pronoun at all there lol. You can sorta tell by his speech that he probably wasnt a "boku" kid though?

My guess for page 22: I think that he is saying 残念 (zannen, what a shame) in response to the other guy not starring in dramas anymore, and then continues with ほなご自由に (hona gojiyuu ni, then feel free [to do as you please]) to indicate that he is done greeting his guests (the two he is talking to) and that they can now do what they want at the house. He leaves afterwards, after all, and the two go searching for miyuki and sorata.

Totally understand the frustration with the ambiguity lmao

Yeah, that's what he did in those flashbacks. It's very common to do so in Japanese, but it also feels like the author deliberately hid his pronoun from back then for this reveal
