I think the manga is doing a lovely job of showing how someone coped with a disaster (Ichi not getting into his chosen middle school) or gained focus after aimless wandering (Anna initially trying a bunch of things but finding her path).

When we first saw Ichi he was at his lowest point and was coping with it in a way to perseve his ego. Anna let him take some risks and grow instead of keeping his delusions. We also just saw Ichi rebuild where he has failed. In some way this arc is an afterward: how he has changed and how he hasn't, where he may grow more. But the arc: failure--> growth--> success is done. He slayed the dragon. Keep in mind the Manga was conceived to explore this moment of middle school, the transition between being a child (elementary) and being a post pubescent teenager (high school).

So yes it feels more mellow as our hero conquered the most pressing of his fears. He won't be as out there as he is maturing.

Anna is becoming more comfortable with who she is and what she wants. True we didn't explore her full arc (what her career will bring her) but the story was always primarily about the struggles of finding yourself as a tween, not navigating the adult world of entertainment.

tl;dr this is a story about the awkard time between childhood and adulthood, and it's said what it has to say, and this is just tying up loose ends and maybe showing some more Anna growth because her challenges are just starting.

why must it end, Nowadays, there are very few good romance manga, most of them are just templates of existing plots.
