This is just so bad character writing, really. Non of them doesnt respect her - first is going to her house to get the letter "bcs he cant wait", second - wanna know personal information of the letter that was written not to him, and didn't ask Koito permission, he acts like she is his property, a thing, a slave, not a human being. And senpai act like little pussy, he didn't confront this scum when they learn about blackmailing, he didn't confront Koito, knowing what this person could do, why she is "going out" with him, he didn't confront him now, when he demand her letter, though it's not a letter to him, but senpai, and now - wanna be his friend? Wtf? This is just so stupid.
And yeah, Koito, who, obviously, have loving family,and brothers, knowing this Neko personality and she still "alone", and they ask outsider to help? They dont look to me like family where such child could exist, it's like "we love you, but we dont do shit to care about you" which is absurd from the psychological point of view 🤦🏻‍♂️ I guess there is some GREAT answer to this stupid question (why she is so... weak?) in this letter, but we dont know that for now, so - it's an opened question...
With every chapter this manga makes me question this more - I dont understand what I'm reading and were this lead... 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

To me it kind of seems like Nekomata is mentally ill and has a personality disorder. If she grew up with him, and he wasn’t always that way, it would be hard to abandon him. It’s not healthy but maybe the choice to abandon him also causes her immense distress. Behavioral health is not really as advanced as people think and the options to get people help are limited by resources and human rights. That said I can understand going out if your way to help an immediate family member but this guy is just a friend.

@dreydrey , right so thats entirely possible but also what nekomata does is abuse. ppl criticize nekomata's behaviour bc its very clear that he is acting with the intent of isolating and controlling koito. koito's concern for nekomata doesn't exist in a vacuum outside of his decade long quest to keep her lonely and isolated with no other friends or support. so even from a perspective of trying to allow both nekomata and koito to heal, bc koito has been traumatized by nekomata's behaviour, what's most important isn't giving nekomata some friends, but ensuring through any means necessary that he's unable to exercise any control over her behaviour and that any continued interactions that they have are entirely on koito's terms

Finally I found someone reasonable in thid manga (Koito's brothers) but the rest of them pissed me off. Why they act as if manipulating someone is something normal and just let it be?

Whatever reason, the thing they should do is go away from nekomata because he is too toxic. And someone should bring him to psychologist.
