16 chapters readed. it's good... but it's not good. started reading it for the romance but i lost interest in the romance. i don't even care which girls the mc gonna get anymore... i don't even know if this is a harem or not (no harem tag but there's a lot of girls in the story). well, atleast the advice is a little bit useful. - 7/10

Took the words out of my mouth. Something was nagging me about her character that no matter how I try to like her I just, can't. She's designed to be this perfect girl who can never say or do anything wrong and without flaws which in turn makes her overbearing and unlikeable to me. The way she's presented to be perfect and the go-to person of everybody is giving her too much credit

I think this manga is fine enough from a character and story standpoint, but it's just so cheesy and heavy-handed in everything it does. There's just so much repetition - they really bang you over the head with the visual metaphors and explanations to make sure even the slowest monkey in the room can follow along. The game references also come off as if they're made by someone who has heard of games, but never actually played any.

@webakinem I find this hard to believe, because from the past 2 decades the girl on the first front cover ALWAYS wins. Are they finally going to break the cliche? I DOUBT IT!

I don't really get how the mind of characters like him work I mean would you really blush just because you're near a beautiful girl with big boobs. What's the point of making friends in game when you can't accept them irl it's just stupid

I doubt Hinami will be the final girl. Part of the conflict of Tomozaki dating Kikuchi is that she feels like it's only temporary and that he's destined to end up with Hinami, yet he still decides to be with Kikuchi.

The worst aspect of Hinami is that it feels like the author came up with her first, wrote a bit of the story, and then ran out of ideas of how to use her.

@tsukidatte I doubt he will end up with anyone in the first place. He has nothing special about him to stand out. My guess is there will be a few year time jump, and then he will end up with a girl.

People train for everything. Physique, skills, learning, play instruments, sports. But when it is for improving your personality or social skill, suddenly it is a bad thing, faking, or whatever. lol You can only learn stuff by forcing yourself to do it until it becomes part of you.
Yeah, I get that Hinami is too extreme tho and that she actually achieves everything is too unrealistic making her not an enjoyable character. Anyway, she looks more like a teacher/rival character than a love interest.
However, I really like the take on the MC side. He tries things struggling, some don't work, other work, others happen on their own or as consequence, and so he thinks what good points came from this, unlike your usual nihilist mc. Also, Tomozaki in the anime version is much better because he portrayed less flustered and calmer than the manga version.

@tsukidatte This story literally comes from 4chan's /pol/. At least the initial premise.

It feels like this author heard of this lecture and decided to try to make a story around it to motivate people.
The real issue, is that the author tries to have a woman teach a man, but that is impossible.
If he had a man teach the man, it would have worked out.

Filthy casuals don't understand min-maxing IRL, they only can handle simple vidyaa.
This story, and the potential lesson (that IRL is the best game), could be written better.
Sadly, the romcom genre only ruins it.

@DragonK123 The first cover is the determining one, so I am saying if we look at basically ALL other romcoms, it's almost ALWAYS the first cover girl to get chosen. So if 10 years from now they finally give it an ending, and if Hinami is chosen, remember this post.

tsukidatte: I think if you actually read the novel, you wouldn't come to that conclusion.
On the other hand, actually the author has planned Hinami's characterization very carefully, and Japanese fans (or people who have read volume 9 in Japanese) have testified that volume 9 indeed explained her motive in volume 1, and a lot of things about her in general. I have read it in Japanese until v8.5, and I can't help but thinking that the author is purposefully not instantly revealing her motive and past, keeping this card until the penultimate moment in volume 9. For example, the chapters about her past in volume 6.5 and 8.5 aren't written from Hinami's PoV, despite other girls have had their own PoV in those volumes.

btw Kikuchi dating Tomozaki is not really a new spoiler, since you can find that info anywhere from wikipedia to other forums, so I wonder how far have you read

konzelmester: your prediction is more boring and cliche tbh.

and I don't really agree with Randomguy01 either, that is very boring trope and I don't see any indication that the author is intending Hinami to be a romantic partner. Hinami is more like a rival and friend to Tomozaki. If anything, the series actually makes me cheering Mizusawa, I'd love to see to get together with Hinami and most of fans probably wouldn't mind it either since Mizusawa is genuinely a great guy.

I don't agree with this statement either :
"The real issue, is that the author tries to have a woman teach a man, but that is impossible. If he had a man teach the man, it would have worked out."

It worked for Tomozaki, and he's not only learning from Hinami, he learns from his surroundings too, especially Mizusawa. In the novel there are many moments when he takes a note of what Mizusawa is doing, the way he talks or leads the conversation and so on. And he admittedly use Mizusawa methods a lot in a situation where he has to handle things on his own.

sinah: atafami is inspired by Smash, the author is a really strong at it too. He also became friend with aMSa and played a friendly match together.

this remind me of hachiman when author also use a force to push the plot but still feel better than the club over there and spoiler is just a long ranting
the idea of min-maxing and tier character is nice

MC think invest in life is not fruit full enough (bad design game) so he max his afatami time, develope strategy and then become rank.1 but only got bad posture and not eyes problem also
i think it mean he can manage his gaming time and choose to pass the self-care even though he can tell his sister this is bad for her.
the next problem is parenting, i dont know when will your parent stop caring about your appearance or posture but high school felt like too soon

then come Hinami, she like games too and also rank.2 in afatami but not like mc she also invest time in life, rank.1 in track club, rank.1 in school, got communication skill, make-up, self management, her household can afford to go to cram school
but the first thing she do with stranger is insult them, i suppose this is a plot device of author like yoru said then i wonder what environment to make you do something like this (maybe he smelling? or the trope that 'she is the same and she see her oldself in him so she became harsh' or this trope' did MC do something like his snap in afatami match online then she see it and wanna changing herself but didnt know it was him')
especially when she give this aura of i know all
and why she not having human race trait of debuff like skill and knowledge decrease over time when she invest time in MC (btw it sometime feel like she just want to using him to doing thing not match her image like this voting arc to help mimi overcome her complexity
and then this excuse of trying and know of reality is also nice touch but it felt weird
when you get to certain level, are you sure you not doing any research and know some high ranker ID or match or watch some of their game-play
or at least know the difference between you two then practice some strategy and accept defeat when fail
or i am reading too much into this and he actually just good in his group and practice 1 move and remember all character combo is normal
cause if it is then why so bitter even hinami say it can become an emotion problems
next is this 'you cant defeat me' confidence, i know they have different play style but is it affecting this voting game this much.
we know hinami using make-up but based on MC react it should be alot to have that much difference but dont know about mimi
and she also build reputation for herself but what reputation can give you 3 more times of votes and why not having blank vote or the school got 100% voter attend which have ~500 student
when mimi is not really losing to her ( my assumption here is she lose by a tiny bit, 1 point in test - 0.01s in field) this feel like mimi is actually god tier even though she have overworking trait
and no one remember rank.2 i always though that only apply on layman case, with professional they will remember but with what attitude is thing i concern
