It's kind of annoying to see these kinds of stories with a mama's boy acting like their mother's affection is burdensome or that they want to be independent. If you are raised by that kind of mother you should used to that kind of treatment, but these stories have mc's that don't act like they've been raised that way. It's annoying because it's like some rich kid acting like being rich is a burden and he wants to be poor. It's just bullshit.

Thanks for the chapter!
I've heard about some parents refusing to believe their kids have grown up and want to be independant or are over doting but this mother takes it to new heights! Not surprising kid wants to be on his own somewhat.

@4stjack It's not that he doesn't treasure his mother, he does care for her a lot but it's getting harder and harder for him to see her as his mother and not a beautiful, caring, and charming member of the opposite sex. Also, having her dote, protect, and look after him like when he was a kid even after reaching the age of an adult is very depressing and demeaning. It's not the care or love that's the problem, it's being treated like a kid who can't stand on their own, support or protect themselves, and not recognized as an adult that's the issue. Instead of being the one supported by her he wants to be the one to support her.

As for rich kid acting like being rich is a burden, which it is, and wanting to be poor is because the grass always looks greener on other side of the fence. Yes, to someone poor it'd be nice to have a lot of money so not working excessively to keep a roof over their and their family's heads, always have food on the table, can have kids educated, have a good sized nest egg for emergencies and can afford an education for the job they want even if it's someplace far. However, the rich have their own problems. Having a lot of money means a lot of people trying to get it one way or another like scam artists, thieves, or 'friends' who are always there willing to lend a hand as long as they're paid but disappear once the money runs out. Also, nobles have all sorts of etiquette and rules to observe when meeting others or higher ranked individuals. Whether male or female if offend the wrong person it's not just cursing or fighting each other on sight, but duels, harassment given personally or to family or family business such as loss of customers or being blacklisted or framed for crimes didn't commit. If a commoner insults royalty around other commoners they might get lectured or whipped, but a noble among other nobles could be condemned for lese majesty and not only themselves but immediate family have title removed, exiled, or condemned to death. Furthermore it's not like some fairy tale where marry a prince and live happily ever after without having to lift a finger. Take the MCs from "I Was Told To Relinquish My Fiancé To My Little Sister, And The Greatest Dragon Took A Liking To Me And Unbelievably Took Over The Kingdom" or "The Villainous Noble Woman’s Slow Prison Life Began With Her Broken Engagement" or Angelica from "The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs." It wasn't they had more money than knew what to do with and spent lazy days shopping for latest trendy cloths but spending a majority of the day with few if any breaks studying for months and/or years so can stand beside their husband without embarrassing him or looking bad creating an exploitable weakness for their enemies or creating an international incident because didn't know culture of foreign delegate resulting in war breaking out. So whether rich or poor both have their benefits, responsibilities, and troubles that a lot or lack of money can either help with or make things more complicated and messy.

Rebelling against your parents and being embarrassed by them. That's normal teenager shit, I dunno what you're talking about.

There’s a difference between someone resenting the love your parents have for you, and wanting to become independent from a parent who is so incredibly overprotective that they wish to wipe your crack after you finish going to the bathroom.
