OOH i would absolutely love if the villain was as feral for making monsters with creative designs as rudy is with her own brand of weapon autism. that seems like such a fun dynamic with them trying to outdo the other but both enjoying the process of just making stuff, kindred spirits yet opposed
So Laios, then. Will we eventually get that Giga Double Headed Flame Ice Dragon?

Nice reference to Monty Python.
Now go find a Holy Hand Grenade.
Next they’ll be arguing about the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow
What do you mean? An African or European swallow?
Confirmed:

This takes place in the same universe as Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Though, The Holy Grail takes place before dungeons appear.
But then again, African swallows are non-migratory...

Alternatively it could be a reference to Wizardry, which admittedly did originally borrow the idea Vorpal Bunnies from Monty Python.
They were also in Dungeon Meshi, which is probably more popular among japanese mangaka...

Well yes, Dungeon Meshi is chock full of Wizardry references/influences, with Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge being sited as a specific source of inspiration by the author.

It's just really hard to understate how influential the Wizardry series is to anything fantasy-related in Japan. If something is a reference it's almost always either going to be Dragon Quest or Wizardry.
