@razarulz Although I will agree with you that the setting and backstory is a bit lacking, you have to consider why the manga is made. It's not made to be an essay assignment where people reading have to analyse and criticize, it's mean to provide enjoyment for the readers. A few minor details being omitted, probably because they are so cliche in other real-world dungeon manga and novels, don't make a big impact on the story.

I get that Japan doesn't really allow guns in their country, but you'd think after being invaded by giant centipedes that they'd reconsider. @razarulz It probably has a similar reason to the novel Dungeons Appeared in Real Life with the same premise. Its probably something along the line of using melee weapons or primitive range weapons like bows or slings to defeat the monsters somehow makes the person stronger and heals faster (or in this novel, levels and skills maybe?). That and monsters that were resistant to modern weapons, including nukes appeared or evolved
