Ugh... it's like they're Isekai elves.

They own plenty of non-elf items that they probably traded for. Just BUY a lightning rod.

Actually, in a world with magic, that lightning-ward festival should have done the trick.

These elves are idiots. If something works use it, who discovered the technique does not matter.

I can understand if there are materials or processes involved you find distasteful, but in those cases you adapt to your tastes and improve.

Poor Ravi. Daddy doesn't know how to deal with a disappointed child yet, and it's awkward fear all around. I'm sure she'll be fine though. There's rarely absolutely zero aptitude in everything, so if using skills is all she wants, then she'll get something eventually. Possibly even something OP.

I don't see what's so surprising with the elves. Historically people have been stupidly unpragmatic plenty of times. Elves wear that like it's their racial hat, so why not? That said, you'd think they'd have figured out a way to make a spell that diverts lighting, considering daily conveniences is their specialty in this setting. Rather, the festival should be magical, shouldn't it?

What's more confusing is that they know it's a problem... just make your own damn lightning rods. You have metal. You can probably make one with trial-and-error.

I'm wondering about something else. It rained for at least an hour, right? I know, that forest fires can be started by lightning strikes, but I always thought they started before it started to rain or shortly afterwards, because the vegetation is still dry enough. And a bigger fire then can dry up the surrounding area fast enough to spread, even if it starts to rain. But here we have a lightning strike into a wet tree. The extreme temperatures of the plasma cause an explosion that can split a tree and the remaining heat might ignite the wood partially, but that should be it. How can a wet forrest turn into a blaze? Has it been that dried up before and did I overestimate that rainfall? But it rained heavily enough to get that cart stuck and they even felt the need to invite huuuuumans to their village, thankful or not.

Granpa Elf was probably several hundred years old already. They need to make a habit of making sure he really was asleep and not passed away.

*BRAAOOOM* Oh my god, a second lightning strike! It fell in the ocean and started a fire, if we don't do anything, the whole sea will turn into a blaze and we'll die of dehydration!!
