It seems like her PSTD makes her lose truth in humanity. So, you'd better not trying to be nice to her.

Just outright telling her that "I did all that just because I want to save my daughter, whatever happens to you is just a by-product, I don't even know you and I don't care how you take it"

The more you chase, the more she pulls back.
But when you act like you don't care, if she cares, she might open up to you.

@dokidoki @Vofuro Trauma behavior isn't logical no, but not everyone can sympathize with illogical behavior even when they know someone has been traumatized. If they could mental health care in every nation would be better. But you also have to realize this is a manga not the real world. Right now people feel that this character serves no point to the actual story other than to hate on the MC. She is not real, her trauma isn't real either, it was a choice by the author. That's why people can call it toxic, because she isn't real, and so far has done nothing but be a bitch. Yes she's realistic to some extent, but she's not a real person who suffered an unfortunate circumstance, she's a creation by the author.

@Sep10trion remember that the money was to keep him silent about her scamming people and didnt believe him when he promised not to talk (for some dumb reason), now people are trying to give her a pass because PTSD but forget that she scammed people without a hint of guilt, and now that for some unrelated events she is now free her first reaction is leash to the guy that make it posible even when he didnt know of her existence at that point, she is just a self-centered ungrateful brat and the mc is an idiot for enabling her.

@dokidoki +1 to that Doki. She literally worked as a prostitute to achieve a goal from 9 years of age. Of course she's not of sound mind and proper upbringing. She's a severely damaged child looking for something in a life which seems to be hopeless. I mean she did all that work and in the end it didn't even matter. Someone came along and did it for her but only after she had done all the horrible things and resigned herself to do anything to gain her freedom.

Imagine making one of those horrible moral choices like "choosing which child of yours lives" only to have the threat never come to pass. She chose to live as she did and it accomplished nothing. She made the hard choice and it was effectively for no reason. All of this as a child, obviously screws her up a bit. Victims of trafficking don't generally come out with the best mental or spiritual health.

Sorry for bothering you but i just get so frustrated by the comments sometimes not understanding a character at all. She's actually a decent character when you consider that fallout from his actions would exist in forms like this. Think of all the people that orphanage must have sold and how they grew up. I doubt you could avoid running into them if your the one who put a stop to it and saved those still bound. Just because she's "annoying" they all just write her off as one of the stupid characters from other stories however.

while I don't agree with the anger at veronica, it is quite understandable why you'd be upset with her character. It isn't particularly interesting and the writing doesn't exactly make you look forward to the next chapter, rather you want this to end as soon as possible so we can get back to fluffy daughter father moments. However, the fact of the matter is she's been through a LOT. If you guys want to self-insert into the mc and think 'fuck this girl i got better shit to do' just because what she's said has annoyed you well too bad. True enough, you have no obligation to look after some defiled girl who is hurt and traumatized but it takes a better person to approach her and try to help her resolve her problems even if there's nothing in it for you. Why? Because it's what a good fucking person would do. And our mc is a good fucking person(or tries to be) so deal with it. He has a newly adopted daughter and he is directly linked to dealing with organizations where kids were sold off so one way or another he'll try to heal her wounds. Let him do him.

@WillLi her situation is like you trying to do something for 5 years but whoops some dude did it for 1 day and all your 5 years effort has gone to waste couple it with adults that abused her and raped her in the daily basis and yeah seems logical to me.

and people with mental problems tends to be the most illogical people from what I see her being illogical is logical. It's like telling a depressed person to just be happy logically speaking that can and will work but not for the depressed individual.

Why is no one pointing out the fact that when Veronica finally got her freedom her first response was, "where would I go with such a defiled body." Afterwards, she then goes to blame the MC for being "too late", like after saving money all that time she would have bought her freedom, been broke, and still reach the EXACT same conclusion but be worse off because of it. People are mad at her (and rightly so) because her logic makes no sense trauma or no trauma. I'm not some robot that doesn't have feelings or cant empathize with her but when people start letting go of logic, I call bull. I'm sad to say this but the writing has been pretty shit this whole arc.
