Yeesh. If you people hate this arc so much, then either drop this manga or wait until we're past it in a month or two.
Personally, I'm on the "no need to hate her" side of things.
Veronica is being quite nasty and, frankly, an illogical bitch. But I think she's "reasonably unreasonable". As
@dokidoki and several others have said, she's been through a lot and had virtually no proper upbringing. Not to mention the fact that she's kinda
still an immature child on top of that.
If I'd experienced the things she has, I'd probably have a lot of emotions to deal with and lash out unfairly at people too.
More importantly, if I were Douglas, I don't think I'd really hold her anger or unreasonably harsh words against her either, and I find it strange that so many people want to "put her in her place/discipline her" so badly. (No comment for the remaining few who just want to lewd or harem-fy her.)
"She's an unpleasant person, but had bad experiences leading up to it. Moving on." The fact that Veronica is super ungrateful towards him doesn't take anything away from him. Douglas loses nothing from her tantrum.
Douglas didn't do anything to save specifically her-or any of the other children for that matter. As I recall, he did it to save Ravi, and as a person with power who saw a great injustice in front of him, it was his prerogative to be "arrogant" and right a wrong. He didn't do it for thanks, and even if he did, he's receiving plenty of recognition from people who
aren't acting like children.
What's wrong with just dismissing her (again, indisputably horrible) attitude with a little sympathy for her circumstances?
