Well, we don't know when she got the scar, but you are certainly right about that messed up family. They basically did the same thing to her as what happened to David Reimer, or like Bridgette from Guilty Gear for a less depressing comparison, so she's lucky she got out of there when she did before there was a permanent negative impact.
