I'm half Chinese, half white and have always looked very mixed. I was bullied for being Asian in middle school. My best friend at the time was a Japanese kid who looked far, far more Asian than I did and they never bothered him despite us sitting next to each other.
Japanese authors often draw mean people as ugly and kind people as hot. Even the supposedly "ugly" MC with a big nose is low-key cute next to many classmates. It makes it easier to hate them.
As others pointed out there's not much of real logic behind bullying, though I assume it's easier to get away with bullying a guy.

One of his classmate said that Yasuda was the one who started the whole bullying on him, honestly there were more uglier people in his class but he directed all the bullying towards Hirota; another thing to note is that it seems like all of Hirota's classmates are already human garbage so even without Yasuda's interference they would all still be assholes.
No... but made a girl already scared of leaving home because of scammed "sugar daddies" crawling around the neighborhood demanding "some fun", to be goddamn terrified living in her own house that was her last safe place.
