Well this went very dark fast.

Me hoping that Fumi would be more understanding went completely out the door. she has some major abandonment and trust issues when it comes to family and men. Hopefully someone will try to look for him or he will be able to send a message to the outside world.

I also wonder if Haru will attempt to visit in the next couple of chapters.

@ninjazz @BZo1480 teacher is just that gullible. He thought Fumi was some kind of hideous looking old hag straight up taken from a dark and edgy episode of the 1998-2002 darkest seasons of Mujer... Casos de la Vida Real, but seeing Fumi being calm and actually pretty looking only made him take the bait.

Ngl, that shit happens a lot irl. People won't get suspucious and will dish aside the issue if the abuser is neat looking and can put a facade of politeness and civility around strangers.

That doesn't mean he couldn't open his eyes if Souta's absence gets prolonged too much. He will blame himself for being too naive.

@SleepyAbra Souta has haru's gmail (i think she handed him her address after the aquarium date). I'm starting to be sure he will have a hand on Fumi's smartphone and give a try to a SOS message. The risk on this is that Souta could run over Fumi's contact list, find out her job as a whore and might snap for sure. If Haru realizes Souta's issues are worse than she thought, then i think she could actually have an emotional breakdown (she almost broke down after realizing Souta's poverty. If she realizes he is subject of multidimensional abuse, both from peers and family, she can easily break down in tears) and will use her stepdad's money and buy him a smartphone.

The other high risk is Fumi realizing there's a strange contact she didn't add on her phone and will get suspicious. If she assumes Haru is the rumored whore, then, in an uber hypocrite move, she could rat her out to the cops and destroy her life only because she is making Souta drifting apart from her.

@WhisCalifa69 it really just takes the right alarm bells before people start acting. unless the kid is walking into the classroom with visible bruises and black eyes, people just go into auto pilot since nothing seems out of the ordinary. that's why you hear the advice given to other abusers is to hit them in places that people don't check.

the mom is giving a good enough excuses and he doesn't have any reason to not trust her yet. we're looking at things through the lens of an omniscient reader. the only real moment when we can start blaming teacher is if he actively ignores a plea for help.

Cold, forced to be only in his underwear, and still slaving away putting together hundreds of capsules everyday. I feel so bad this guy, I really do.

@GuitarLegend there's not enough words to thank you for the effort. Mw, enjoy the bloodbath xDDDD

@Stardustphantom97 Shigeo has physical resemblances to Souta (now i can figure why he's so cute, even cuter than the main girls. He just has really superior genes). It could ackshually be a possibility However, that's not the only possible significant connection between the main characters' families. It's hinted Igarashi from chapter 8 is actually Takasaki-daddy. And by the looks of things, Yuri's older sister can be Haru's classmate or her kouhai at worst.

If true, then it all comes full circle.

I know why his mother so overprotective.
Since a dropout college, disowned by her parents, cheated by her man, so what else she have now to survive in this world?

Beside, Sota in puberty now, his mother must know this rather than lock him up like this.

Anyway, keep doing your great work akatsuki scan. I'll always waiting for yoir job in this manga

"I love my son so much, I want to connect with him, and I don't want him to turn into his deadbeat dad!"
".... which is why I strip him naked and work him as a child labour and make him skip the school all the time"

Am I dumb? Do I miss something? I'm not a real life parent, but surely that's not how it works.

@musicfreak12 serious abandonment issues due to cheating and the posterior misandry can twist somebody's thoughts. Especially in an actually dumb and naive hillbilly with next to zero survival skills or proper education like Fumi.

It makes sense in hindsight.

fuk you mom
Considering how broken her soul is, those might not be the wisest words for MC to utter in her presence.

I was just hoping souta and her mtoher can get the happinnes that they deserve. Even though maybe her mother ways of doing things is wrong but she still suffer from all of the things happen to her. I hope Haru can give souta happinnes and at the same time making her mother reassured.

Well well, after suffering shitty parents I'm done defending bad parenting due to prior abuse. No matter the reason every child deserves better.

I'm glad he's atleast not dumb, even if pathetically beta.

@WhisCalifa69 Oh, I know he's gullible, I've seen quite a few teachers like that when I was growing up. Seen a few snakes in sheep's clothing like Fumi, too. Him naively giving her the perfect excuse to lock Souta up in the house away from school was about what I expected. My experiences with teachers like that is probably coloring how I view this fictional guy, admittedly.

@Daphine aesop of the chapter: don't play with naive country bumpkin's hearts. They're for being loved and cared, not pump'd and dump'd. Otherwise, you've just made a psychopath.

@Mikubanzai abandonement issues are really serious issues and looks/personality can deceive people.
