I think the uncle does want Salma gone/back to France without actually "kicking her out". He might have shown Murad where the passport and ID are on purpose in case Murad was helping Salma.

Also this is an even weaker speculation but he might have noticed Salma was in the house searching for documents that night. That's why the uncle was being loud so Salma would be aware that him but more importantly salmas brothers are there. Noticing she didn't take the ID he showed Murad where it is.

"What's forced marriage?" " Honor killing?" Goddammit Nanase, the phrases can't be more self-explanatory than it already is. Hell, try to pick it up from context or something first before asking. Even Shinra lampshaded your questions.

@vangstampede the phrases aren't as clear or well known in Japanese. "Honor killing" is more like "honor murder/homicide" and the only reason English has the term is because of media attention in the UK on Muslim immigrants. I doubt most Americans know what it entails. Japan doesn't have the same situation and the Japanese are famous for not knowing or understanding foreign cultures. Besides, she's in high school and the target audience is kids and teens.

Minor issue buut shouldn't the ustad be called "Ustad Tahir" instead? I guess it's because the translator just translated it straight form JP raw, and Japanese being Japanese the author put the honourific behind the name. I keep on instinctively thinking Ustad is the person's surname.
