Can We Discuss The Adaptation Comments Problem?

I know what readers here are like, so let me make this very clear.
I AM NOT ATTACKING LIGHT NOVEL READERS! Everyone is allowed to talk about what they like (within rules). The comment sections are for everyone. You are just as entitled to discuss the things you enjoy as manga readers, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking about future events as long as they are spoilered.

Now that this disclaimer is out of the way, let me ask you. Should I have to scroll for several seconds and then go to the next page in order to find one person who is willing to talk about what's going on IN THE CURRENT CHAPTER?

I recognize it isn't easy to police something like this and even if it was I could be the only one who has a problem with it. If so that's fine. My solution thus far has been to (unfortunately) block known LN spoil buttoneers so that I could see people who want to talk about the actual chapter. But it's an overcorrection to say the least.

TL;DR My suggestion would be to create a rule where someone must at least contribute to the conversation outside of a spoiler button. No it's not perfect, yes it's exploitable cuz you could just say 'nice' and no I don't think it's an end-all. Like I said this isn't easy to police and I could be the only person who even has a problem with this.

It's just...I came here to read manga, I open a comment section to talk about manga. Is it too much to expect others to talk about the manga chapter in question? I swear there's a chapter of Slime Tensei with three pages of spoiler buttons and nothing else. Does this not bother anyone else?

In my opinion there is. I find nothing more aggravating than people coming in a chapter thread to tell you that yes, they know what happens next (or doesn't) because they've read the raws/the chapters in another language/whatever and are desperately willing to tell you about it. Sometimes they don't spoiler it, sometimes they don't say what their spoiler is about and don't quote anyone, and because the spoiler tag is so ambiguously used, people are bound to read something that is simply off-topic.
The spoiler tag is useful on the title's main thread and on more general forums. It should almost never be used in a chapter thread.

The example in your screenshot looks like a hopeless cause and reminds me of old-style forums with megathreads dedicated to tv shows where everyone spoilertags everything.

Also your screenshot is weird.🫃

nothing will change

also when not abused there is meaningful discussion about the source material that is relevant to the manga, ex: manga plot differing or comparing parts that were skipped etc. it’s only a problem when done to meaninglessly flex

This is why the studios are animating the most bland, most brain-celled, most fantasy-setting novels because they are afraid of backlashes.

SO... what will we get in 2025 "SUBETE WO ORE NO PARRY SEASON 2", "BACKwATER SWORDMASTER", "RE MONSTER Second Season", "RNG piggy duke anime for sure".

They will not garner hate but zombees... and they will flood their money in.
