Yeah, I like him too. He fills the plucky underdog role quite nicely, but is still competent enough to get things done.
Similar to someone like Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, or maybe Zoro from One Piece.
Still, he brings his own personality to the table, and isn't entirely a carbon copy of those type of characters, which I like.
