The Steins;Gate anime does have some small details that would go over your head if you didn't read the Chaos;Head visual novel (ie Daru mentioning a friend he has that could help find the IBN 5100 which is from Chaos;Head), but it's not really detrimental to the experience. Same thing with Steins;Gate 0, there are small mentions and hints about the other games but it's fine. I think when it starts to become a issue is with games like Robotics;Notes and Chaos;Child. These games either have returning characters from previous titles or important lore/info that the game thinks you already know about from previous entries.
Thanks for that extra context. (y)

It makes sense to have those latter two titles mention which required titles offer required knowledge, but it feels a little silly to mention Chaos;Head as a source for recommended knowledge for Steins;Gate. I don't think small insignificant cameos are worth checking out another title out for. 😅

Consider this a small heads up for gimme_yuri_plz to not care too much about watching Chaos;Head before embarking on the wild trip that is Steins;Gate.

You call TTA a good nickname? Can you try imagining someone saying in VC???
"HeY TTa HoW Is It ToDAy?"
You can prob pronounce it "T-Ta" or "Teeta", boom solved! 😎

Now, I suggest you pay us and take the name before some other smartass makes a username like "TheTurnaboutAttorney" comes along and snatches it in front of your nose!

There's some crazy important stuff too that I may have glossed over like how we first get to see The Committee of 300 and the first signs of something bigger going on here, which lays the foundation and the ground work for Steins;Gate and future installments. But I thought to ignore it since we were talking about the anime only (since I would rather no one touch the Chaos;Head anime). You definitely should read Chaos;Head if you are reading the visual novels too. It sets up some VERY important stuff that still gets referenced in the newer titles.

Yeah I was definitely talking about just the anime, since that's what the initial question was about.

As for reading the VNs....I think I'll respectfully pass. It feels like too much of a rabbit hole to get stuck in. 😅

Yeah it's a masterpiece. Just make sure to not watch the other anime (ie Chaos;Head, Robotic;Notes, Chaos;Child) that are in the same universe as it. They are amazing works but the anime adaptions of them span from 'eh' to 'holy shit, this is garbage'. And since you do play visual novels, I'll recommend the full series if you are interested in that:

Thanks! I’m watching Steins;Gate (2009). Currently at episode 5
