Unfortunately here in our country we kind of HAVE to use these shitty apps like twitter and facebook to get critical info, like the weather, gov announcements, power outage status, etc.

Don't forget that government censorship also playing role in this situation. The government is censoring everything on TV and news so people need to spread their news on these shitty apps to can spread the news anynomously without being suppressed.
