There's always goofy dialogue in Rance, no matter the title. The only problem with the original three first titles is compatibility, so it's recommended to go with the newest Rance 01-02-03 titles. Rance 4 can be played with Windows 10, and for the titles 4.1 & 4.2 you need to set a Virtual Box. 5D onwards is all canon.
