He is the prince, in ch 1 pg 3 out of 14, it says her brother worked for the villain Prince Ignis and got caught trying to kill the emperor's hidden son ( who was the protag). When the conscription first started 100 years ago by the imperial family the nobles who resisted were murdered and I guess their entire families, and it's still the same today. Although I'm wondering if it's just nobles or are commoners supposed to go to?

Basically, we have 'villian' Crown Prince, who is oppressive to nobility.
Then we have 'protagonist' as Emperor's bastard (ahem, 'hidden') son

I smell good old politician shite where nobility is plotting a coup against legitimate heir.
I mean, army's system and the consequences of trying to avoud it seems tyrannical and possibly outdated, but it brings stability to the empire.
