Funny thing... I can actually believe Arkos had "true love" for Zira.
She was so broken, so desperate, and so beyond caring for her own life for years that she simply didn't care if he killed her, so I can see him appreciating the company of someone who didn't really have any fear of him.
Couple that with how strong-willed and nononsense Zira is, I see how it may lead to, albeit twisted, love.
Oh... so that is Harra's origin, interesting... the explanation of their power too kinda gives one more piece of info to a question I have for some time now... how the powers of gifts interact between the gifted.
The fact that the effect was very diminished against strong people brings into perspective that there is a "tangible" aspect to strength, now I need to know... if gifts can be strengthened past the "acquisition" or if they are forever determined.
I hope Nile understands that... Julian and co didn't kill Angval, she made a choice, she did what she always had done... she followed her heart.
But knowing Nile's own story as a soldier in this world expands things a lot.
I want to see how the moment when Orthros asked to be mind controlled went with the Emperor, he(the emperor) has been shown to be a good person, a leader that has made tough choices and mistakes, but a good person... so one of his strongest, most loyal and dedicate, and gentler, subjects asks to be ridden of his autonomy like that... it must have been a heavy moment to deal.
Orthros clearly is strong, even with the limits of his current mind, he still is strong... but having to take away his free will because he is just so good hearted... there is a heavy contradiction here... but he asked it himself, because as good hearted as he is, he is too loyal to his king.
