it seems like when we're following Asa, the story feels pretty well-grounded because she has that overarching objective to "get away from War Devil" or "become one with War Devil". but when we switch to Denji's perspective, it gets more directionless because his major story already happened and he's now just barely picking up the pieces.
unlike in part 1, where we got mention of the Big Bad very early and often (Gun Devil, then Makima), part 2 Big Bad hasn't been made clear yet. we know there's some connection between the Four Horsemen devils and potentially an apocalypse coming, but the central characters Denji and Asa don't have a visible stake in it yet (except that acc to Famine, War Devil might be key to stopping this apocalypse).
i read most of Chainsawman part 1 and part 2 in one go recently, so maybe that biases my POV, but i don't feel that Fujimoto is running out of ideas. it feels like compared to part 1, part 2 central conflict has more setup. but i also haven't read his other works so idk if i'm missing some common pattern lol
