For a second there, I thought that Denji had eaten the alveolar ridge devil, 'cause all the sounds they stopped being able to say were alveolar consonants. (And /w/, for some reason?) But turns out Denji and Yoru just pronounce everything as dental consonants for some reason.
Though according to Wikipedia alveolar consonants (minus /r/) in Japanese are typically analyzed as laminal, which does involve the teeth. So I guess this is either a translation issue (The only English dental sounds are /θ/ and /ð/, the "<th> sounds.") stemming from Fujimoto doing a bunch of research and the translators just going "yeah its probably the same in English" or an official confirmation that all the characters are speaking with a Japanese accent, even in the English translation.
I'm still not sure about the /w/s, though.
