For a second there, I thought that Denji had eaten the alveolar ridge devil, 'cause all the sounds they stopped being able to say were alveolar consonants. (And /w/, for some reason?) But turns out Denji and Yoru just pronounce everything as dental consonants for some reason.

Though according to Wikipedia alveolar consonants (minus /r/) in Japanese are typically analyzed as laminal, which does involve the teeth. So I guess this is either a translation issue (The only English dental sounds are /θ/ and /ð/, the "<th> sounds.") stemming from Fujimoto doing a bunch of research and the translators just going "yeah its probably the same in English" or an official confirmation that all the characters are speaking with a Japanese accent, even in the English translation.

I'm still not sure about the /w/s, though.

I wonder if Denji eats Darkness Devil, will the universe burn due to there being no darkness to stop the light of all the stars?
That's a really interesting question. I feel like Fujimoto wouldn't get into the physics of it, but if he does, then darkness is just the absence of light, so if you erase the concept of the absence of light, then I think that would necessarily mean something like everything in the universe becomes photons. It's more likely he'd interpret it as something hand-wavey like everything being mysteriously lit from all angles, cuz I mean, it's manga, so all he has to do is stop drawing shadows. Or maybe something in the middle, like "there can't be darkness without light" so erasing the concept of darkness means erasing the concept of light too.

But I get the feeling that he's way more likely to not write Denji eating the darkness devil... though I hope he does, and he gets real weird with it too.

he's being very literal with his chapter titles lately
maybe that's not for nothing? maybe it could itself mean something?

The final panel sent literal chills down my spine.

Fujimoto channels something profoundly dark from his subconscious into his work.

I can’t wait to see what he’s cooking next, cause last time we descended into hell, it produced one of the greatest pages ever written in manga.

At first I thought it was silly to expect the darkness devil to just appear like if you are dropped in the world you aren't gonna be greeted by the same person twice and the first time darkness was working with the santa killer so it knew they were coming

but I also see the last page shows Hell looking particularly dark for some reason

Holy shit are you overthinking this. Or was it meant to be a humble brag? Fujimoto is literally just showing stereotypical "old person with no teeth" speech, he did not do a week's worth of phonetics research for this.

Everything being photons is a bit drastic and doesn't really do the trick I think, interstellar space would still have way too low a density of matter to produce or reflect enough light to not be seen as dark to human eyes. He'll just make dark matter & energy visible and luminiferous, I bet he did enough physics research after he's done with phonetics to know about dark matter.

Kind of feels like you're just being an anti-intellectual asshole. Someone points out details in something and you just brush it off as "psh, nah, why'd someone ever research something?" You trying to show off the fact that you don't know this stuff? If so, then I feel kind of sorry for you that that's the best you can come up with.
