Let's hope the boy has learned that it's not good to try and act grown up to impress others.
Just be honest with yourself kid, everybody has a lot of growing up to do.

yeah but also he is bombing because Yukihira makes him feel things that Mihayahara does not.
i think that the story has been trying to very much convey that it's the opposite of this
arima is larping as a mature adult and he perceives yukihara as also being mature and more adult-like, but basically all of his genuine emotional reactions in the story so far have been targeted towards miyahara. like chapter 2 spells the entire manga's gimmick out. he thinks about helping yukihara out with whatever because he perceives that as being romantic and coming to her rescue or something, but he doesn't actually think to do it in the moment when he sees her fall. then when miyahara falls in the same spot he immediately helps her up without thinking about it at all.
or i guess more obviously the swimsuit chapter

you're forgetting to account the power that is force of habit, with him having known Miyahara much longer. Doesn't necesarilly mean he likes Miyahara more than he does Arima - it just means his default behavior for a long time has been playing backup for the derpy one.

That said, I personally thing he has genuine feelings for both of them - it really comes down to what kind of "mature" Arima ends up wanting to be as he gets older.

You can be goofy and maintain your childlike sense of wonder even when you get older, like Miyahara.
Or you can be more serious and put-together, like Yukihira.

Neither one is wrong or bad.

The problem is Arima thinks Yukihira is more mature, obviously trying completely opposite what she would do.

Yukihira seeing him being awkward and not in the mood, confirms her belief he isn't interested in her as more than a friend. No indirect kiss, albeit childish, definitely tells the "date" is basically over.

Next step, Yukihira being a wingwomen in Miyahara and Arima, because that's what true friends are there for.

Wish there was a boy who would be interested in Yukihira, it pains me when a loosing heroine is left out alone, especially if will put all her strength to support other couple :meguuusad:
