I'm also surprised by it only having three more chapters. I can understand why, though, if you look at the publication history. It went from a weekly schedule to a long hiatus to then a monthly schedule. Plus all the time skips.

At least the author has a chance to wrap up any parts they want to.

Hmm they both assumed the same thing at the same time
But ugh, no wonder the story is trying to pull them back together. Souta was already moving on then suddenly after the manga's hiatus, it feels like there's a desperate move to put things together, not to mention the time skips (can't say if there was the major time skip happened before the hiatus).
It's unfortunate if this really is getting axed but I guess it really lost its momentum either due to some writing concern or because it went on a hiatus early on its lifecycle
