This teenager went from a hardcore military bootcamp to fighting a war, then in the midst of this war he's now carrying an extremely important diplomatic mission, fighting stronger and stronger top dog enemies with little to no pause.

I'd say romance is way beyond his worries rn, he's pretty much glorified fighting machine hellbent on finishing his mission.

Didn't Usato had eyes on Suzune before they got summoned. I pretty sure his image of her changed after seeing her true self.

I usually hate the dense mc troupe, but it works well for Usato. Like he has been shown to be very single-mindedly determined and gets tunnel vision. It isnt that he doesnt care to notice the romantic interest from them, he just doesn't view it that way because he's already register them as "friend".

Couple that with the poor sense of self he still has a bit of and it goes quite a way toward making a dense protagonist that isnt just dense for the sake of the bit.

Dense protagonists are annoying when they are dense while also whining about finding love. if a character is dense when their focus focus is on another task, such as surviving, it makes a lot more sense.

Probably for the best that Usato remains dense. I mean, his "options" are a 300 yo vampire, a trouble maker classmate, and a 14 yo child... Suzune really is the only real choice, but I can't see it happening.

I would’ve liked to see Usato progress more in his combat capabilities as a martial artist rather than just relying on hitting hard and having his special dragon gauntlets. He could also probably use some more fleshing out on his character as well. Outside of that, I’ve enjoyed it - liked the inclusion of characters like his healer disciple he sent to Rose and Nea.
Part of his character is that he is a healer first. If he spent more time on his martial arts abilities, it would undercut the tone of the rescue squad's theme of being the hope of the dying soldiers. That being said, he didn't really train his healing or running skills either.
The counterargument to this is that the wrong way to use healing magic probably includes punching your enemy really hard while keeping them alive, but I think that the characterization is important enough to let this slide. Especially if we don't see him torture his enemies. It would be nice to see other healers doing these things though.

THE END
I was thinking the same thing LOL, this could have easily been the final chapter. I’m glad it’s not, since we still haven’t seen the rest of the cast (literally everybody still in Llinger) in quite some time

Senpai is 18, Leona is 20+. The Samaril princess and Amako are younger than him. Nea is already bound to him till death.
I have fixed my statement. My point was that most love interests are in the age range where it's not predatory. In Canada, for example, the legal limit for dating is up to 5 years younger if the other person is under 18. So 17 -> 22 is technically legal.
