I still dont get why the MC is trying so hard to get his parents to talk. Like even after learning what happened. He claims to not be trying to force them back together? But then why all these shenanigans? I get its not a happy memory for him, but trying to get two people to talk who dont want to talk sounds like a good way to make things worse.

soon, my fella.

The main thing is him being a selfish kid that he was not allowed himself to be when they got divorced. Thats the whole point.

I'm kind of weirded out but also not super surprised that the dad shows up and the thing that he most loudly complains about is not that he was manipulated but that his girlfriend lied and slacked off on work to deal with this.

Gotta love Japan's obsessively work-centric culture where the worst thing you can do is not kill yourself working for a company that doesn't actually care one iota about you. And then act all upset that you've fostered an environment that allows black companies to thrive.

he is going to basically throw a temper tantrum to let go of all his bottled up feelings about their broken family and divorce.
His parents won't get back together, but will at least properly talk again.

It's not about the work culture there as much as it's about the guy himself. It's not exactly out of character for him, given that he blew his marriage with that attitude and hasn't fully learned the proper lesson from that yet.

I am a workaholic myself, most of the time I also work on national holiday.
but damn that's "what you take your job for" is kind of cold and sad when your family is around and its a day a lot of people celebrating for.

More like not staying quiet and letting his true bottled up feelings out.

Yeah the entire point here is for HIM to get closure which he never got. Hell his whole character/who he was, in the beginning of this series is because of this divorce. Like yeah he wants his parents to talk and maybe even that small 1% of him thinks its possible for them to get back together but in the end he's needs this to be able to move on. Also on that topic, both the parents kind of need this too, the mother clearly was not handling the split well given she threw herself into work to not have to think about it. Not to mention the hate dad is super unwarranted it very clear he cares and took care of them and still does his biggest mistake in this whole thing was focusing too much on his work at the time. All things considered their break up was extremely civil, no domestic violence, no cheating, it was just 2 people who drifted away. But even in the most amicable of splits the child will be effected and there's really no way around it.
