Seki’s problem is why romcom protag are always never in sport club. They will always either not in any club activity (free to move from one girl to another) or in some kind of cultural club where there’s no need for training the same thing everyday until you get it perfect.

Difficult for Seki though. He came in carrying baggage, he already likes Yuu.
Even if he approach her pretending to just be friend, the wish is still there. And romcom heroines usually got assassin-level skill to detect when people are looking at them or trying to hide their intention.
Risky move, but blowing it like this so there’s nothing to hide, and then restart again with lower expectation might works better to at least be friend. Yuu would be less cautious because she already delivered her answer, so no worry of one day your “friend” suddenly confessed.

Girl, I wouldn't call them dumb. Nina is just too stuck with conventional dating ideas. Her dating experience has certainly colored her way of thinking, but she should try thinking outside the box: While buying clothes together for a more formal date can certainly be a date in itself, it only means they'll be having two dates (one informal and one formal) and I fail to see the problem here? The more dates the better, yeah? Even a routine shopping trip or a simple dinner together can be a date if both of them think it is! All that really matters is that they enjoy their time and get to know each other better.

So that's why Yuu was eager to play third wheel. She was trying to sneak away from studying...
