So, beatings have gotten worse since the beater (presumably family) has less to worry about when she's not required to be out in public every day.

She definitely is reaching out for help, but I do feel she could do far better than just hoping someone she doesn't even know notices her behavior is odd. Sure, she doesn't know him and might not trust him, but even if he was a bad guy on the beater's side, if he told the beater anything to begin with they'd clearly make it worse for her regardless of whether it was an outright scream for help or just the minor oddities.
