Hmm, I hadn't looked into similar-sounding words so it's possible, though I don't think ロ is really a baby-talk version of ウォ. I'm definitely curious to see what the official translation will use lol.
Instead of baby-talk, I think its trying to be english slang. Or at least, you could strech the pronounciation to be "pwn". Which frankly, also makes a lot of sense in the context.

Maybe it's supposed to be an inside joke? To sorta hammer home MC having zero clue what they're talking about.

Looking at it, i think "pwn" is definitely the answer here. I could see someone confusing the "p" for "Io" if they're not super familiar with English ("pwn" -> "Iown").

Regardless I think "pwn" is a better choice here anyway, given their established net-life. Still have to see what the official TL does with it, though.

It's definitely an inside joke, I just don't know what the joke could possibly be lol.

Mayyybe? The problem is that the "p" sound in Japanese would be ポ, which is completely different to アイ. I could perhaps see it as the result of a telephone game that became an inside joke for the two of them, but that's getting more in the realm of headcanon than proper translation imo.

I feel that in the end, without any other indication, keeping it as "IOWN" is fine because it puts us in Itou's shoes of not knowing what the hell they're talking about lmao.
