"Completed" Status (As Opposed to "Reading")

I noticed that marking a manga as one I have "completed" puts a "read" marker by every chapter. I was wondering if this would apply to new chapters when they come out. Basically, should I use this status for manga I've completed that have no more chapters, or can I also use it for manga that I've completed but are ongoing?

Completed as in the manga is finished (the end tag is visible to show that). Thats when you use the completed marker to show that you have completed the manga as a whole. If the manga is ongoing you would not use the completed marker even if you have read all of the current chapter released.
