I did state in my original post that people should be following our forum rules if they want to be in these threads. I guess it may seem like the comment bans are related to the topic of the post, but racist terminology and whatnot has always been covered in the rules. Our rules have always been "left-leaning", if you want to call avoiding various forms of discrimination that

In my opinion these two latest complaints about moderating are more about the language used to explain why those people were punished rather than trying to claim that the banned people didn't break the rules.
"Dogwhistle this, dogwhistle that" just makes it appear as if they're being punished for hurting somebody's obscure feelings (can't see inside another person's head after all) rather than for a clear breach of rules. But that's just my opinion on it, I hope I'm not accidentally blowing into any hidden whistles with this post.

also, you do realize people outside of the US do care right? Not everybody thinks the way you do, you don't speak for or represent the entirety of Europe or South America or whatever.

@murc you are missing the issue people are taking with this all, either on purpose or because you are letting your emotions get in the way. Almost nobody in this thread has said the officer didn't murder him. One person argued whether it constituted outright murder or if it was manslaughter, which was silly, imo. People are taking issue with those calling it a racial issue. A person was murdered, yet these people are happy to reduce him down to his skin colour, to ignore any history he had with the officer who murdered him. People have cherry picked statistics and used them to say there is institutional racism, while ignoring other factors as they please. If the protests were entirely peaceful, and were not coopted by racial identitarians, I would probably look to join them. Police brutality in the US clearly is a big issue, and any lives lost to it, even those of bad people, should never be excused.

mentioned the murder of george floyd not because anyone in the thread said he wasn't murdered, but because people want to talk more about looting and riots rather than the loss of human life. which i believe is a misplacement of basic moral values

ive definitely seen people in this thread argue that this issue isnt racial, i wasnt responding to that sentiment. youll notice my post never mentions race or racism, i was responding to different specific people and posts
