Cats tend to not overeat, but if this becomes a habit, you're going to end up with Garfield.
Mine just don't eat them, I guess because the smell is gone now that they're out in the open because if I give more of the same stuffs, they'll eventually eat.

There's various factors that go into eating behaviour for both cats and dogs. If you pick up a stray that had to eat to survive, they're more likely to overeat given the chance. Having competition around (other cats/dogs) that may steal the food also makes it more likely. And of course there's always the random element of "this particular cat just behaves this way, who the fuck knows why lol."
The cat I spent most time with was one of those "I can see the bottom of the bowl, therefore it is empty" types, at least when it came to dry food.
