i like how this manga's randomness never gets old. my only gripe was that bringing chitose into the fold was too random and forceful.

I guess… but the setup for Chitose’s storyline to now was nearly 100 chapters ago on chapter 68 so it didn’t feel forced to me

That's not really much of a gap IMO
but yeah her progression is way more subtle compared to the other girls but she already openly expressed that she kinda likes him in the first place so /shrug

Everyone already silently agrees that Funabori is best girl and is number 1 in rank
everyone else is really just competing for 2nd place at this point
She's literally an Angel and a Goddess, they really can't compete with that

Why wouldn't it make sense?

Chitose from the start was a very timid girl, it was only through trauma and adversity she grew into the strong woman she is today.

However she still has some weak points from childhood trauma.

That childhood trauma is then linked to an incident with Kazama, where he helps her out of a scary situation. She lost her memories but unconsciously still has admiration for Kazama (spiky)

She then reunites with her savior years later, and once again he's there to support her and even helps her overcome her trauma once and for all.

Not surprising at all for her to fall for him.
