I'm going to personally hunt down the next brainless idiot who says this stupid buzzword. Same with "progress".
spoiler: following paragraph is a joke:
axed. The moment there was any progress~
At least this one did not use the axe the moment they got their first kiss. Just the moment they had their first time instead~
Jokes aside (I had to, sorry, that comment was literally baiting me to
), sometimes I feel like jp mangakas believe that stories
end once a couple has overcome all the hassles and hurdles and started going out and consummate without any antagonists (tangible or no; Despite how that is actually when initial hurdle has been overcome and a story/relationship can properly start). Because they always do end it if it reaches those moments.
I can't believe I have to even clarify this but no this was not cancelled. You media literacy challenged gooners couldn't identify a natural narrative ending if you broke your nose walking straight into one.
What story is there left to tell? The central conflict is resolved. The entire premise. You even get a (pre) sex scene.
Dachi no Imouto was carrying Rakuen Le Paradis, the magazine it's serialized in so hard that the latest issue is getting review bombed on retailer websites by people saying all the good series (specifically mentioning Dachi no Imouto) are ending and they have no reason to buy anymore. So shut the fuck up about shit you have no clue about that can easily be fact checked, holy shit you people are annoying.
I regret scanlating this series in particular because it got popular (and horny) enough to attract this crowd of readers. I will stick to niche series that will filter out undesirables and offend most people who read it from now on.
I think ppl are referring to how the end was rather rushed-feeling. At least compared to how much it dragged out a lot of other earlier plot-points.
As such change in pacing is often a sign of being axed, I have noticed people have also taken to call things "axed" to signify that it had such an ending - even when it was not [axed] (though maybe it is more correct to say it was not axed
by the publisher. It can still be argued to have been by the author).
And some just call
any ending of a story they liked as "axed", to show how they would have loved to get to read more.
ps: but to answer your question, there is a lot left to tell.
Like what happens after this point. As for the central conflict, it was resolved several chapters ago when they told the brother, after that we had the "make brother accept it" arc, which I remember foggily (in part because the pacing broke so I started caring less and have been skimming). But iirc he still had his qualms, and its sub-sub-plot about brothers relationship with a manager was never resolved was it?
For the side-quests (subplots only tangentially - if at all - related to mcs), there was also the whole "incest" thread going on, which was far from done. Closest it has gotten is that the sub-sub-plot of them having had a fight ended as they made up (happened during last 2 chapters), but they are still keeping it a secret from friends etc.
Also the yuri couple, which is still hiding it. A lot could still be explored there - even if they end up graduating and leaving the plot (loses contact with mcs) before they tell their friends.
But personally I am satisfied enough with the ending. Because that's more than I
expected to get from this story honestly, was expecting it to just eventually peter out like oh so many other mangas. Though I would be less satisfied if I had been more invested, so arguably people being dissatisfied is a good thing as it shows they actually liked it.
tl;dr: I think ppl refer to the pacing and not actually to whether publisher axed it; There was more to explore; But I am personally satisfied.
There's an epilogue chapter and whatever other extras we get from the volume release (January).
Oh? It hasn't actually ended yet? That would explain why MAL did not have me mark my progress as completed and set a score (odd that md had tagged it as such though).
